Kids FAQ's on Polymer Clay
- Polymer clay won't get hard until it is baked.
- Polymer clay comes in lots of colors and you can mix colors together to make more.
- Polymer clay is safe for kids to play with if you follow the safety rules.
- You can use a plastic knife to cut out shapes or if your Mom will let you, a small paring knife.
- The clay can be worked with on a foil covered cookie sheet or a formica table top or counter with waxed paper or freezer paper taped to the table.
- Plastic coated paper clips can be stuck in the clay and baked to make your things hang on cords.
- Bake your clay in a regular oven or toaster oven at recommended temperatures. It is on the package.

- Bake for about 15 minutes for very thin pieces and about 30 minutes for thicker ones.
- Water or cornstarch will help you remove an object if you want to push a button into the clay to make a mold.
- You can roll out the clay with a piece of plastic pipe or an old rolling pin not going to be used for food any more.
- You can bake the clay on your foil covered cookie sheet.
- Things can be baked right on metal or ceramic things like tin cans or flower pots if you put a coat of Sobo glue on the can first. Then stick on your clay.
- Magnets and velcro buttons can be glued on the back with Super Glues. Ask Mom to help with this.
- Skewers for shish-k-bobs or toothpicks can be used to make holes for beads.
