Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
In the late 1980s I had taken a wonderful class given by Jamey
Allen--the rest is history.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
Matisse. All polymer clayers are artists that I am interested in.
What is your specialty?
Millefiori in Polymer and working with all types of beads.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
The extensive variation it offers including an almost endless color
palette. Also its overall low cost, but best of all I can working the
corner of my living room (which is my “studio”).
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I have written several articles for “Lapidary Journal” starting with the
Bead Annual Issue of October, 1993. I was also in Leslie Dierks book
“Creative Clay Jewelry”.
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
No awards yet but I’ve been in many craft shows and galleries and was
shown in the New York Public Library for the month of March in 1996.
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
Healthy, wealthy and wise.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Keep working at it and don’t be afraid to experiment with colors.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
organization?
I started the New York Polymer Clay Guild in September 1992 and am now
the President Emeritus. I I am a member of NPCG.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
Fimo, since I find it holds color and shape best — and now that it is
much softer it is not such a chore to conditions.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your
training?
My husband and I (both native New Yorkers) live in Manhattan--and love
it here. After leaving a career as a medical laboratory technologist a
few years ago, I now freelance in several various fields. One such field
is teaching polymer clay bead making at the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York City.
