Background Information
Years Teaching: 25
Years Teaching Clay: 2
Years Working w/Clay: 10
School or Studio: Marlene's Art Studio and Gallery
Freelance: Yes
Specialties: I do well with faux semi precious stones and fantasy stones. I've sold
some of my sculpture as well as a lot of Frida Kahlo jewelry and knick knacks. I embed pictures in clay - using liquid polymer clay.
First Experience With Clay: I first saw a woman work with FIMO before it was sold in this country. I was most intrigued and had to try it out when it became more available.
Past Teaching Experiences: I started with FIMO. My first jewelry looked great, but I glazed it with an oil based glaze and ended up with forever tacky jewelry. I've gotten much better since then! Now I sculpt as well as create jewelry, do-dads, teach and more.
Publication Experience: I'm Arts Editor for Bayside News. I've written for and been written about in various magazines and newspapers - but not necessarily for my work with polymer clay.

each class building upon the last while making room for new students.
Words of Encouragement to Novice Teachers:
"Start with a skill, master it and share. After a while it will become second nature."
